Hmmm... what did we do Monday?
We walked down the street to a park... which opens into a huge field shadowed by a great big mountain.
Those flowers were growing on top of a dirty mound of dirt but I thought they framed the mountains so well.
My friend Donna attempted to teach me and my girls how to knit.
That is not even the funniest of my facial expressions that Dan captured. Chesney was a natural and I hope she keeps up with it. I am not a natural and I'm a little disappointed in myself. I wanted to love it because the idea of playing with colors and textures appeals to me. It's not going to be easy for me to learn, however. We'll see if I keep up with it.
We went to the ice cream shop for dessert. There was a local ice cream shop literally steps from the house. They had some really strange flavors. Honey Ginger. Sweet Corn Raspberry. Mexican Chocolate with Salty Almonds. Just FYI -- Mexican means they put cayenne pepper in it. I could have lived my life without discovering that.
But here's a photo of our group eating ice cream:
We played a lot of games during our time in Crested Butte. I'm not a huge fan of games because I hate to lose and I often do. However, I put that aside and played anyway. We played spoons, a lot of Monopoly, quite a bit of poker (without betting and chips), Jenga, and my favorite...
I still lost spectacularly. I think I had one awesome point at the end. But I laughed so much. More than I'd laughed in a year, I think.
We played until we were exhausted, and then went to bed. So like 9 pm. It was so fun not to be on a schedule and go to bed when we were tired and get up when we woke up, no alarm. It was a long, fun day with nothing special happening. It was awesome.
