We have a family tradition before we start travelling for the holidays. First, the required photos of the kids in their new stuff.
Brady's new hat:
Kiah's new scarf (which she super-duper loves... must learn to make t-shirt scarves):
Then it's off to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. There's one not far from us but we hardly ever go there... until the morning we leave for Christmas travels. There's something about that place on a cold morning. We just love it.
One great thing about Cracker Barrel is that they have a great variety of healthy options, which is important to my family. Not so much to me. I ordered my usual -- hashbrown casserole and bacon with a blueberry muffin on the side. I love muffins.
I had left myself a list of things I needed to do before we left. Brady added to it:
And that's how the Furby came to be named Kevin. We had watched Home Alone the day before we left and Brady was making a joke about that movie... but we turned it into Brady wanting us to not forget his Furby.
It talked half the way to my parents and it was in a closed paper sack. It's an annoying little thing. Kiah tuned it out and took a nap.
And that's us and our holiday. We love all our little traditions, and the new things, too.
