I was just planning to include my December Daily as part of my Project Life album this year. Then I was thinking about my last three albums (can you believe I've actually completed three albums?!?) and I realized that if I put my December Daily pages inside Project Life, I wouldn't have a separate album to put in with our holiday decorations. One of our favorite things to do while decorating is open up the albums from previous years and read the journaling.
So I spent a little time browsing for albums and thinking about how I wanted to do my album. I knew that I really liked the Project Life format. And I knew I wanted clean and simple. I love Typography (and I'm not talking Comic Sans). I wanted to include lots of typography in my album.
I found the perfect album and page protectors:
I decided I'd use the Simple Stories SNAP collection album and page protectors. It's a 6x8" album with a variety of protectors. I have 6x8" page protectors for one big photo for each day. I also bought a set of protectors with 4-3x4" slots, another set with 2-3x4" and 1-4x6", and a final set with 2-4x6" slots. The album itself also included a sample of protectors, some 6x8 patterned paper and some chipboard dividers. I have great plans for those dividers.
I had a plan for the inside of the album... and then Nettio Designs came out with her Holiday Favorites mini album and my plans all went out the window. I spent a chunk of time resizing her 5x7" templates to 3x4" to fit in my album's journal spots.
I created my own color scheme for the album based on this image I found on pinterest:
I sent all my journal and filler cards to Persnickety Prints to be printed. I will journal by hand this year. I love journaling by hand, and it's a way to keep me going with this project.
I plan to use a lot of 6x8" photos but this set of page protectors gives me plenty of room to add more photos as necessary. To fill in some of the other slots in the protectors, I created a set of filler cards (which I'll share here next month). Here's a preview to hold you for a few weeks....
I'm really excited to put this together. I did my first two years using the Journal Your Christmas prompts, then last year I did a true December Daily. This year, I'm going to do Holiday Memories. Some of my Memories entries will make it into my Project Life album. I'll just print two and photos can be in two places. I think it will work really nicely together. So ready for the Christmas season!
