I awoke on Leap Day thinking I would read a lot about One More Disney Day -- 24 hours of operation at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
I didn't expect to see that a devastating tornado would have travelled through one of my favorite places in the world.
I told Dan about 5:45 am that Branson had been hit by a tornado. I looked at what photos I could (as it hit in the wee hours of the morning and there wasn't much) and he asked me, "Did it hit the otl?"
You see, my family has a running joke about this motel on the strip. When we first started visiting Branson, the sign said "motel" and then there was some ridiculously low price. We'd joke about how it was so cheap that we could each get a room. Of course we'd have to go buy our own towels and bedding, but we'd have our own space.
Over the years, a few letters have dropped off and no one ever bothered to replace them.
It's still got a special place in our hearts.
I was heartbroken to see the above photo on Wednesday evening. Our sign is gone. The strip has been broken.
I have faith that the Branson people will put it back together.
We're be there in a few weeks. I can't wait to be back in a place I love. Broken or not, it's where I want to be.
