Friday morning, Dan, Brady and I piled into the van and drove to Wichita State University. To be fair to my oldest child, this is where he has always wanted to go to college. In fact, he's already taken one class through his high school and received credit at WSU.
I insisted that he take the typical college tour while he was a senior. He thought it was silly. He knew what he wanted.
We sat through an incredibly boring powerpoint. We took a walking tour of the campus. He talked to an advisor. As we walked back to check out, he said, "Yeah, this is it. I knew the minute we got here."
So there ya go. Brady will be a Shocker. He'll live at home. He'll major in Rainbows and Unicorns.
No. I'm sure he'll major in something more realistic. He's just not sure what. I'm OK with that. Saying "I'm not sure" sits well with me.
It's really freaky to have a child going to college. It will help that the transition will be slow for both of us. He's got a nice, solid scholarship that will pay for a chunk of his education.
And a free t-shirt. Can't forget the free t-shirt.
He's a Shocker. Not what I had pictured, but exactly what he wanted.
