My husband, who is a wee bit stingy with his money, thinks Valentine's Day is a made up holiday and he does not like to send flowers or buy candy or anything frivolous. Last year, I got an iPhone the weekend before Valentine's Day... which is not really a gift because hey, I would have gotten it anyway. Still, it was cool.
This year, he said, "Instead of buying you a gift, why don't you make reservations for our Spring Break shows?" Um, because I don't want to. I usually enjoy getting on the phone and calling theaters, but I just don't see the need. We'll get tickets after we get to town. I can't work up any enthusiasm for calling.
So I counter proposal-ed. "Why don't we go buy our Disney tickets?" Again, not really a gift because it's something we're going to need to buy anyway, but kind of fun. We drove to the local AAA office and picked them up. I may have known so much about Disney tickets that I actually taught the agents a bit.
Right now, this is where we stand:
Our first resort, Sheraton Vistana, is reserved and paid. We'll be there for 11 nights. 2 bedrooms, 2 bath villa. Washer and dryer, full kitchen. Lots of fun resort activities.
Our Disney tickets are purchased. I planned to go in and buy 10 day tickets, knowing we might only use 8 days (the price difference between 8 and 10 days is $15/ticket). While we were there, Dan looked at the price sheet and decided we could pay $30/ticket more than we budgeted, buying 8 day passes and adding the Water Parks and more. This works for our family because we love the water parks. I have to refigure our daily plan a bit to add in the water parks at least twice (maybe 3 times if I can work it), but I think this will be a nice fit for us.
We'll move to Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios for the last four nights of our trip. We've paid our one night deposit there. We'll be in one regular hotel room with a roll away. We will probably either only be in the room to sleep... because the alternative is wanting to kill each other.
We bought our Universal Tickets five years ago and have been holding on to them ever since. We'll have five days at the Universal parks. I plan to make full use of our on site priveleges to get into Wizarding World early evening morning, and use Express Pass to satisfy my adrenaline junkies need for speed.
So that's sort of where we're at in the whole planning process. We'll be renting a vehicle of some sort. Just waiting for the prices to come down a little and hoping to use our Emerald Club membership with National to be able to choose our own car.
Dining reservations are made (and much more plentiful than they would be if we stayed onsite). I've started the to do and packing lists. I think we'll be ready to go in a little over a hundred days.
Can't wait to share more with you!
