I need a compact digital. Love my regular digital but it is too big for me to carry on a daily basis. Therefore, most of the photos of our weekend were taken on my iPhone... and tell a great story.
We left early Friday to drive to Kansas City. We made a quick stop to drop off the dog, and then hit KC just in time to shop. The girls were excited.
Love the landscaping at Legends. We wandered around and ended up at one end of the mall at Dave and Busters. We really, really enjoy that place. We each got a meal with a $10 play card and then spent the better part of two hours playing games. So much fun... even when I'm playing Deal or No Deal and keep hitting No Deal until I end up with 3 tickets.
I also enjoyed Wheel of Fortune. Can't stand to watch those shows on TV, but love to wager a few credits on them.
We left Dave and Busters about 1 pm because that's check-in time for Great Wolf Lodge and we wanted to get our water park on. The line was long and slow moving, but I kept my happy smile in place and greeted the poor girl who finally helped me at the check in desk. Here's my reservation number (no one had their numbers with them... I had mine on my phone), and I hope you're having a great day. She was having such a great day she found us a clean room right then (they don't promise a room until 4 pm) and we quickly unloaded the van and changed into our suits.
They were waiting their turn in the bathroom. We had a family suite on the third floor. 2 queens, this pull out sofa, a little balcony. It was a nice little room.
We spent the next few hours in the water park, where it is advertised as a balmy 84 degrees. I'm not so sure I believe that claim. It wasn't cold... unless you got in the water and then got out wet. Then it was chilly. I'm finally recovering from a sinus infection and I didn't want to be cold. So I took a couple spins in the lazy river, discovered how cold it was when I got out and spent the rest of my water park time sitting at a table, reading my kindle, which was tucked in a ziploc bag that Dan had used to transport his extra pair of contacts. Dan and the kids did a ton of water slides. I can't do them because I'm afraid of heights and those slides are way up there. So I sat and read and I was quite content. They had a great time.
After our water park time, we decided we needed to stock the little refrigerator in our room so we ran over to Target to get some pop and water and snacks. Peanut Butter Snickers. They're amazing.
On the way back to Great Wolf Lodge, we saw Cheeseburger in Paradise. I really wanted to eat there, so we stopped. I ordered a frozen sangria because... well, the water park is really loud. And it had been a really full day. And I wanted a frozen sangria.
I didn't expect it to come with a little pineapple man on the rim, but it made me smile. Dan liked it so much he ordered one too. And the nice waitress brought the kids sunglass pins. The kids may not be five any more, but they still like cute.
We ate some fried pickles and took photos of ourselves...
Mykiah had the 2nd best salad she'd ever eaten.
Then it was back to the Lodge, where Ches changed into her Halloween costume and did a little trick or treating...
And then we all went to the room and just relaxed. Brady kept talking to us from his "room."
He kept insisting that the wall was his room. It didn't work so well at 4 am when he woke up and decided to read his kindle using the reading light. Woke me right up. I have a hard time getting to sleep and once I'm asleep, I really need to stay asleep. So I was up at 4 am on Saturday. But it was OK. We were having a great time.
More photos tomorrow!
