2008 Marks The Haygoods’ Final Full Season In Branson

After 16 years and more than 10,000 performances in Branson, The Haygood Family will perform their final full season of shows next year according to Haygood family representatives and David Sandy, president of David Sandy Productions, Inc.

Originally from Boerne, Texas, the musical family of seven brothers and one sister (Timothy, Patrick, Dominic, Michael, Shawn, Matthew, Aaron and Catherine) ranging in age from 14 to 30 became a Branson favorite soon after their first early performances at Silver Dollar City beginning in 1993. Proficient as musicians, vocalists, acrobats and entertainers, the family moved to the Music City Centre theater in 2002 and created a two-hour show that received notoriety and accolades from Branson visitors and locals alike.

Haygoods4 “We are so very proud of what we’ve accomplished over the years here in Branson,” said Timothy Haygood, the eldest brother of the Haygood group. “Over the years, we’ve had several opportunities offered to us outside of the Branson market and we now feel it is time to take advantage of some of these options. Plus, we need a little break to rest and recoup. We’ve been on stage performing nearly our entire lifetime.”

The group has already initiated the planning and early stages of production of a television show that will showcase the personalities and variety of talent within the family. Additionally, selected national and international tour dates have been proposed for 2009 and beyond.

“Although Branson is our home, we look forward to branching out and sharing our passion of music and entertainment with people who may never have the opportunity to visit Branson,” added second-eldest brother Patrick Haygood. “We’ll continue to perform as a family wherever we go, and we look forward to coming back to Branson from time to time for select performance dates.”

Performing oftentimes to sold-out audiences at the newly renovated 700-seat Music City Centre theater located on the famous Branson strip, the Haygood Family Show has received numerous awards over the years, including the title of “Editor’s Choice: Branson’s Must-See Show 2006” presented by the Branson Critic Awards just this past year. In addition to the group’s awards, individual members of the Haygood family have been nominated for the coveted titles of Best Performer of the Year, Best Musician of the Year, and Best Singer of the Year by the same organization.

Although the family will continue to perform as scheduled throughout the remainder of 2007, the final full season of performances will run from March 2008 through December 2008 with the majority of performances scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Select 3:00 p.m. shows will also be presented at various times throughout the year.

“I am extremely proud of my company’s association with the Haygoods here in Branson since 2005,” said David Sandy whose company presents all of the shows at the Music City Centre theater, including Tom Mullica’s Red Skelton Tribute Show; Red, Hot & Blue!; and Tony Roi’s Elvis Experience. Sandy also introduced Darren Romeo of Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, The Voice of Magic to the Branson market in 2004 when he partnered with Joe Sullivan and Larry Welk of Welk-Sullivan Productions.
“I look forward to my continued involvement with the very talented Haygood family in the future,” added Sandy. “The members of the Haygood family have become my close friends, and I not only respect their tremendous talent, I also respect them as great people who, collectively and individually, have a true passion for music and entertainment.”

“We always have and will continue to value our relationship with David Sandy Productions very much,” commented Timothy Haygood. “David and his staff expertly handled all of the business aspects, theater operations and marketing of our show which gave us the time we needed to focus on creating the best show possible. We’re one of the few shows in town who have offered a new show each year complete with new songs, new arrangements, new choreography, new sets and more . . . and that takes a tremendous amount of time. You won’t believe what we have in store for Branson audiences in 2008. Our final season is going to blow people away!”

In addition to the television project and touring, the family will continue to record and release new music, including several original compositions that are featured in the show. More new music will be introduced in the 2008 season of performances as well.

“The Haygoods are undoubtedly one of the hardest-working, devoted groups of entertainers I have ever had the pleasure to work alongside,” said Sandy. “They give everything they have, and then some, in every single performance . . . and the crowds love them for it.”

Haygoods2 Dominic Haygood enthusiastically commented, “We absolutely love what we do. We are so very lucky to have the opportunity to live our dream, and we have Branson to thank for giving us that opportunity at a very early age. We’ll always be grateful for the Branson audiences and tremendous support we’ve been given.”

As the preliminary news of the Haygoods’ final performances has filtered out into the tourism community, the demand for tickets has already increased considerably. Reservations for the 2008 season will be accepted within the next week. Throughout the remainder of the 2007 season, The Haygood Family Show is presented evenings at 8:00 p.m., with the exception of Friday 3:00 p.m. matinee shows. There are no shows on Mondays. .... Press release by the very pleasant David Sandy. Photos by me because I can't stand a blog post without photos. This is serious stuff people. Really. I'm reserving next year's tickets as soon as I can, so Dan and I absolutely must come to a decision about next year's vacation ASAP. And if anyone wants to join us on any trips -- Spring Break, Thanksgiving, late summer -- let us know now. I'm talking to you, sisser and Grammy. Cuz you know my butt is going to be there, front row center, at least 3 times next year. Thankfully, I already have our tickets for this Thanksgiving. Anyway, just wanted y'all to know that those Haygood boys that I like to feature as eye candy... well, soon, you'll get to see them for yourselves. It's going to be so fun to watch and it couldn't happen to a nicer family. (Since you've already seen my Duttons and all....)

Goodness! I've been reading your writing about the Haygoods for years! Maybe they'll become really big stars on TV and have their own show and you can watch them every day :o) Hope you have a fun weekend!

Oh no, Kim! What terrible news! At least you have another year. ;)
