Birthday trip, the real Haygoods scoop

OK, so yesterday I posted my professional, trying to be as objective as possible, review of the Haygoods. An edited version is up at Branson and Beyond.

Now, for the really fun stuff...

So we're sitting in the front row and I'm literally bouncing in my seat. Poor older gentleman beside me. I swear I did not scream. I clapped a lot. I bounced. But no screaming. Wouldn't want to embarrass my husband who's sitting beside me.

The fun stuff came towards the end of the first half. When we picked up our tickets, we told the box office we were celebrating my birthday. Which is totally true... this was my birthday celebration weekend. A couple of weeks late, but we were celebrating. Trust me.

So Tim and Pat come out to do the birthday/anniversary thing, and they don't mention me. I probably stuck out my bottom lip a smidge. I do like to pout. But I just figured the box office didn't pass along the information. No biggie.

Pat goes on to talk about anniversaries (he'd just celebrated his 14 1/2 month anniversary, you know), and then Tim takes the lead.

I was so totally going to rip the audio off the DVD and put it here for you to hear for your own ears, but I'll just tell you that Tim then introduced me to the crowd. I believe he said that as far as women were concerned, I was the number one Haygood fan. (You and me, Jason. Together the king and queen of Haygood fandom.) He mentioned this blog, and said I pretty much rule the internet as far as Branson is concerned. I was all "Ha! In yo' face!" to Dan. Because you know, my husband really cares not.

Then I realize the theater camera is on me (they video the show live, show it on video screens, then sell a DVD of the show). Not like I'm shy or anything, but remember that tussle Dan and I had over my shirt? Um, I was right. Should have worn the t-shirt. Cuz my cleavage is forever recorded now... I swear the camera was shooting right down my shirt. So I apologize now to anyone who bought the DVD. It's a decent shot of my cleavage -- I've been tanning and everything -- but if I'd realized, I would have overruled Dan and worn the tee. I promise. Anyway, I'm embarrassed about it. Feel awful and wish I could rewind and choose a different shirt.

Then they do their little beach party scene and it's the end of the first half of the show. Tim comes out to give the rundown of assorted Haygoods products for sale. My girls had given me their Haygoods Hug Bear to get signed (when we went in March, half the family was sick and they didn't get all the signatures), but I'd left it in the hotel. Cuz I am way too cool to get a bear signed.

Yeah, so Tim threw me one and I carried it around like a baby the rest of the night. I am mighty proud of that thing, and it's definitely going on my desk at work. Providing I have a desk, which is a whole different story. I love that bear.

During intermission, I got to meet a fellow Haygoods fan, Dale. Dale lives in Springfield, Missouri and gets to go see the Haygoods a lot more than I do. I'm jealous. Oh yeah, and I went and bought a DVD because hey, I knew I was on it, right? Gotta show that to the kids. Which is how I realized my cleavage was on the video screen... watching at home with my father. That's one to make ya proud.

In the second half of the show, they do a whole "love song" segment. I read the Haygoods message board and knew they were trying out putting a girl's face on screen during the love songs. So I'm listening to Michael sing "When You Say Nothing At All" -- which has long been my favorite love song, and no one sings it better than him. I notice they're doing the girl on the screen thing, and then I notice that she has glasses just like my new glasses.

Then I realize it's me.

Totally cracks me up. I'm old enough to be the boy's mother. But I do appreciate that the boy can sing.

So the show ends, and we're in the front row, so we're sort of stuck because the theater empties really slowly. We take the side exit and there's Tim. So I say Hi and introduce him to Dan. We talk briefly about the show, and then he's off to sell stuff. Cuz Tim is the one that runs this whole show... he's on the Internet, keeping an eye on the message board, posting to MySpace, and just taking care of business. I think he's a great guy.

Meandtheboyz Then I'm off to the meet and greet line. Talk to Pat a bit, then get signatures from Catherine and Matthew, tell Aaron how impressed I was, and then there's Dominic. When the girls gave me their hug bear, Chesney smirked, "But Dom already signed it." Well, ha! I got my own! No, really, the girls know how I have this soft spot for Dominic. I vote him Haygood most likely to succeed. So I tell him that story, he signs the bear and I get a photo. That will be sitting on my desk at work. Sorry, Shawn. Dude, it would have been you, but you didn't come out and do the photo thing. Because if I have a soft spot for Dominic, it's nothing compared to this mother hen thing I have for Shawn. But hey... Dominic, Shawn, Tim, Pat.... I'll gladly put any of them on my desk. They all qualify as eye candy. Hmmm... wonder if they'd just come and actually sit on my desk? Probably not, huh?

Get done with Dom, and head back to get a photo with Tim. Decide that maybe we should leave. There's a fine line between a #1 fan and stalking. I'm afraid I'm about to cross it.

Definitely did cross it when we're walking out and Dominic's pulling out of his parking spot. He waves. Says something. And I yell, "Bye Dom!"

Yeah, the camera man is probably taking my cleavage photo and putting it up on that Haygoodstalker.com website I've heard about.

And so ends my Haygoods stories. I had such a fun time. I'm not sure it comes across here, but my grin was a mile wide. If you want some proof, as we're pulling out of the parking lot, I grabbed my cell phone and called my 11 year old daughter to tell her all about it. She was just as excited as I was.

We're going back on Thanksgiving night, and we've got 2 front row seats again. I just cannot wait. And hey, it's Dan's favorite show, too. We had a great time.

Wow! What a great story! So glad you had such a terrific birthday celebration. I'm listening on youtube now and they are awesome! So are you :o)

Hey Kim, Sounds like too much fun! You and Hillary have a cleavage thing going now I guess. I'm kinda worried about you not having a desk! What's the story??? Where you gonna put your bear?!? {{{Hugs}}}

Kim, have I told you lately how much I love reading your blog? :-) You and me, baby. KING AND QUEEN!!!

KIM!!!! I so wish I could have been there! It sounds like you had a blast!

Kim,

stop stop stop-my sides hurt from laughing. Happy belated B-DAY!! YEEEEE HAAAAAAAW. (Sorry, Tim, when you feel the urge ya gotta do it.)
Reminded me of my concert-and can't wait to annoy them again. But, we all do it so nicely.

I've been to the haygood show before and it was pretty cool. I went with the IPHS choir from November 30th to December 2nd. It was so cool and i'll never forget it. We also brought ms. Ruth with us, and i remember Dominic brought her on stage ... it was hilarious.

Kim,

I had to reread this and was still laughing through the tears. I should have asked you what date you went so we would have bought THAT DVD before they quit filming. haha
I can't wait for another show. Can you truly suffer Haygood withdrawal after less than a month. LOL
Nice picture of you, Dom and Pat. Definitely good eye candy.
