Freebie day!

So today, I thought I'd share my thought process when using templates. Sometimes, I just flat out use the template:

Sometimes, I open a template, open a kit, and find things in the kit that work so well with the template that they just become a part of the layout:

Nancy Kubo's Papermelon kit just had two elements that really fit this template. First, that big circle that fit right in the corner. Then the cute little border. Just really changed the feel of the whole layout and made it softer than the first layout.

Finally, sometimes I just get in a groove and throw it all out the window. When I started this layout, I slid the Linda Gil Billdal cardboard edge overlay
onto the template. Then I decided to really go loud and bright. And nobody does funky and loud better than Carrie Stephens (you can't buy this kit... it was a gift to DST gold subscribers) . So I opened Sunshine and Rainbows and realized there were a few things that would really fit, and a few more I wanted to use that wouldn't really fit but I'd use anyway. And while I was at it, I added some peels from Marcie Reckinger. In the end, you can sort of see the template peeking through, but you have to squint:
