I'm not really here...

I really like knowing that people are out there reading my blog, and I really don't want anyone to get bored with checking it and finding out there's nothing here, so over the next few days, while I'm off on vacation, you'll find little surprise postings.

Today, I have a little vacation blog meme for you. Memes are little questionnaires that I do, and then you are supposed to pick them up and do them on your own blog. So if you do it, post here and link me up so I can comment when I get home.

Here we go:

1. Where did you go on your last vacation?

Well, last vacation prior to my current vacation was to Branson over Spring Break. Right now, I'm at Walt Disney World, staying at Port Orleans Riverside resort.

2. Would you go there again? Why or why not?

Of course I'd go again. To either choice.

3. How many vacations do you take in one year?

Approximately 4 vacations a year. Usually Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and 2 separate weeks in the summer. This year it's more like one long summer trip and one weekend summer trip. Spring Break and Thanksgiving are always to Branson, Missouri. Summer can change, as it did this year to allow us to go to WDW, but most years it's Branson in the summer, too.

4. Where would you REALLY like to go on your next vacation, if money was no issue, and how long would you stay?

I'm always up for a Disney trip. I think our 2008 trip might be to Disneyland and Southern California. And I'd go to Branson every month if we could swing it financially. There's always something to see and do in Branson.

5. Do you put a little money aside each week (or month) to save up for your vacation?

When Chesney got out of kindergarten, our day care payments ended. We opened a savings account and have the amount we used to pay in day care transferred into savings weekly (OK, we actually transfer about 3 times what we paid for day care into savings each week). We also have extra held out of our checks for income taxes, so we get a fairly large refund. We live modestly -- our house is a double wide mobile home, I shop at Wal-mart and Target and we eat store brand groceries. We make those choices to enable us to go on our long and plentiful trips. Because 20 years from now, will my kids remember our trips to Branson, or the fact that they ate store brand peanut butter?

Great post Kim! I totally agree about the sacrifices to save up for trips. We have been working on making changes around here for the same idea - to be able to go on more FUN family getaways. Those are the things the kids remember the most. Not because we are traveling somewhere new... but because its ALL family time. I hope you are having a BLAST at Disney!

I love Disney! We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside twice! We think it's just great! I hope it is not too busy for you there and you are able to do everything you wanted. The Laugh Floor was not quite open yet when we went and Mexico was still down for the Donald Boat ride... Ride Rock n' Rollercoaster for me will ya?
