spaghetti

I cook spaghetti about once a week. It's nothing special. Whole wheat dried pasta, canned sauce. Maybe some ground beef if I'm really energetic. And some Schwan's 5 cheese garlic bread as a side dish.

It's cheap and it's easy.

Kinda like me.

No, I'm joking about the me part.

Anyway, I have a new recipe for making spaghetti. Still uses the same basic ingredients, just a different method of preparation. Thought I'd share it here because I'm just so happy with this recipe it seems a crime not to share it.

I got the recipe from the Pillsbury website. Just so you know it's not original to me. What I'm offering here is how I fix it. You can see for yourself the original version.

Spaghetti Skillet
Tastes better than Hamburger Helper, but just as easy

3/4-1 lb lean ground beef
3-4 oz sliced pepperoni, chopped (3/4 to 1 cup)
3 cups prepared spaghetti sauce
1 1/2 cups water
3 cups uncooked spaghetti, broken into small pieces, 1-2" each
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1. Brown ground beef. When almost completely browned, add chopped pepperoni and cook for another minute or so. Drain.

2. Return meat to skillet. Add pasta sauce, water and uncooked spaghetti. Stir well. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and cook about 10 minutes (might be a little longer, but not much).

3. Sprinkle with cheese. Remove from heat. Cover; let stand 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

My recipe is a little larger than that on the website because I've got growing kids and they eat this stuff up.

I've really gotten out of the habit of sharing recipes, so I'm going to try to do this once a month or more often as I find good recipes we like. Enjoy!

Yum! This sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing!!!Cy

Mmmmm....this sounds SO good! We make spaghetti about once a week too, so this will be a nice alternative. TFS!!

Just wanted to say thanks Kim! I actually made this for dinner tonight because I had most of the stuff and my DH and I both loved it! PLUS, there was plenty for him to take to work for lunch.. LOL Anyway, thanks! :)

So nice to see your take on the recipe. Oh, my I can't use or eat Hamburger Helper. I smell the additives in the food. I won't say what it smell like what animal food to me, that is canned, but you get my drift. I definitely will get my son to try this one for me. Don't worry about the size, I have enough children grown, & their little ones to finish it off. So nice to visit you today. I can't scrap because I am waiting for Sony to contact me to replace my HD. In fact, I am going to call them myself because it is past the time they were to call. Will visit you again soon.

Thanks so much for this recipe. We had it for dinner last night and it was a momentous occasion, mostly because it was the first night in months that we've been able to eat at the kitchen table, since it's been covered with scrapping and sewing stuff. It was delicious!
