movie review

So my kids are complaining that they never get a weekend to stay at home and do nothing.

They're right. They haven't had such a weekend since sometime in January.

And they won't get another one until April, maybe.

But yesterday, we had fun.

For lunch, we met my family -- my mom, dad, sister, BIL and two nieces -- in a nearby town for lunch.

After lunch, we went to see a movie.

I'm not exactly knowledgeable about what movies are out there right now. I haven't paid much attention.

A few weeks ago, on one of those weekends where we didn't sit and do nothing, my mom stayed with my kids while Dan and I did the awards weekend thing. During that weekend, she mentioned this movie coming out that she wanted to see and that she thought Dan would like.

My mom and my husband have similar senses of humor.

So when we planned to meet, Dan suggested we go see the movie.

I went in not knowing anything but the basic premise and who the stars were.

I really liked it. I laughed out loud. I do that so rarely in a movie that it's a great thing when it does happen.

It's PG-13 and we took the kids. There's a some cursing (which, um, I do pretty often in front of my kids) and some sexual allusions (which I don't do in front of my kids, but I'm not sure they "got"). It wasn't bad and I didn't ever feel like I shouldn't have brought them. There was a preview that kind of creeped me out and made me wonder, but not the actual movie.

William H Macy was a hoot, more so than I expected. The casting was really just perfect. Definitely a strong point for this movie. The first half of the movie was just full of laughs. It got a little slow in the middle/end, but was still good. It's not something that's going to change the world, but it was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Chesney wants everyone to know that Danny Zuko is in it, too. :)

I'm so glad you gave the "thumbs up" for this movie. I had told Luke that he probably wouldn't be seeing it but now I'm reconsidering... he's been watching the early seasons of "Home Improvement" on dvd (free from the library, of course!) and just loves Tim Allen. Have a great week!

I laughed out loud at that movie too!! I also was freaked by that one preview that they showed!! :-O
