Everybody cut...

Footloose!

So yesterday I wasn't feeling the best, but I managed to get through the day because in the evening, we went to a dinner theater with my parents. The show? Footloose, the musical.

What a fun show, and what a way to kick off this week of show-watching. The kids loved it. In fact, they dug out our CD from the movie and played it today on the way to the zoo (pics from that trip to be seen tomorrow).

We're just a midwestern town with a professional dinner theater, so I wasn't expecting huge things, but it was definitely a show worth seeing. The actors that played Ren, Rusty and Willard were really good. Ren, especially, was too good to be doing dinner theater. And the boy can dance. Which is sort of necessary if you're the lead in Footloose.

Footloose happens to be one of Dan's favorite movies, which is kind of odd because he claims to dislike musicals. And although Footloose isn't technically a musical, it's about as close as you can get. Anyway, he loves the movie and when I was pregnant with Chesney, he decided we needed to name our boy child (if it had been a boy child) after the movie. I just couldn't do Ren, so we agreed that should our 3rd child be a boy, we'd name him Ryder McCormick. That's how much we like the movie.

So it was very fun to go see the musical. Now I want to see it on Broadway. Or at least as a full scale production, with a live band. It was good, but could have been so much more, ya know?

Anyway, it really got me in the mood to see some good shows, and I'm looking forward to Branson more than ever. In the meantime, here are some pictures we took last night while waiting for the show to start.

I love fun outings like that. When we were dating, Joel took me to see Braum SToker's Dracula at the Repertory Theater, which is SO not his thing, and it is our favorite date memory ever. Wish we had dinner theater here. ;( glad you're feeling better!
