day 3... the finale
So I ended my last report with "Sometimes, I reminded myself, you just have to put being a mom before your own, personal desires."
Ha. If you fell for that one….
I turned my girls around, got down on my knees and said, "Look, this morning I bought you each 2 new shirts that you didn't need. At Justice, even, so you could tell your friends you got it at Justice, the cool place. Each of you also got a High School Musical shirt, even though Dad didn't want to buy it, and I talked him into it. You're going back in there and letting me get my picture. I'll consider it your Christmas gift to me."
And I turned around and marched back in. I have no idea what my mom was thinking at this point. Probably that her daughter had lost her ever-lovin mind. But they all followed me.
There was a very short line and I had noticed that Shawn Haygood was the first Haygood to meet. And I'd pretty much already decided that he was the picture I wanted to get, because he's got that whole long hair thing going, and he just seems like a nice guy. Not that the other Haygoods aren't nice guys. And not that some of them don't have long hair. He just seemed like he'd say yes without laughing. I get that vibe from him.
On shaking legs, I walked up and asked. He came around the table -- put his arm around me! -- and my mom took the picture.
I floated out of there. I vowed to never bathe again (a vow I broke in less than 12 hours). I mean, he freaking touched me.
It was one of the highlights of my sad, pathetic life. And something I'm going to treasure.
[P.S. After my mom took the picture, she said, "You just wanted that for your blog, didn't you?" Yeah mom, and a mouse pad. And a t-shirt. And a life-size poster. But definitely the blog.]

You crack me up!! But I guess I would be the same way if I would have a chance to meet Jon Bon Jovi one day! ;-)

Aghh, you tricked us,, great picture though.
I do and say and take pictures of so many things with my blog in mind and no one ever says to me,, you did that with our blog in mind didn't you... half the time I have to remind them that I even have one. Needless to say they aren't faithful readers.
